The Wright County Fair Board 2014: Meet Angie Charlson

Angie Charlson, a Clarion resident, has lived in Wright County her entire life, with the exception of two years while attending college. During her growing up years, Charlson was a 4-H member for nine years. She belonged to the Blaine Blue Ribbon Winners until it dissolved, and then served as Chapter President of the Lincoln Leaders. Her leaders were Marilyn Houck, Mary Ellen Patterson, and Marion Denger. She was also a member of the Northeast Hamilton FFA for two years.

In 2003, Charlson was recruited to join the Wright County Fair Board, and she said “yes” and has remained on the board since.

Today, she serves as the rabbit superintendent. Prior to the fair, her responsibilities include making sure the barn is prepared and assigning exhibitors to their pens. She also prepares the show bill.

“I enjoy being able to work with youth and watch them grow from year to year.”

Charlson added that it “broke her heart” to see the old buildings being torn down, but she is proud to serve on a board that continues to update the fair facilities.

Read interviews with 11 other members of the Fair Board – including Clarionites Dean Kluss, Shorty Anderson, Matt Brandt, Brian Marker, and Kim Heller – in the July 3 Monitor.
