Wright County Examines Economic Impact Of Bird Flu

     It's been two months since the first case of bird flu was confirmed in the state of Iowa and since then people have wondered how far the virus would spread and what impact it would have on Iowa's poultry industry.

     This is particularly true in Wright County, which is one of the state's largest centers of poultry production. With nearly 5,000,000 birds destroyed from a single Wright County egg producer, the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza is positioned to make a substantial economic impact on the county.

     To measure exactly what that impact will be, Wright County Economic Development Director Bryce Davis is working on a report to track the long term effects that the bird flu will have in the local economy.
