Wrestlers take district title, send six on to state

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows took the team title at the Class 2A district in Clear Lake last Saturday, scoring 107 points to easily finish ahead of the host Lions with 84 points. Following them in the top five of 12 teams represented were Osage with 80.5, Humboldt with 77.5 and Hampton-Dumont with 55. 

The Cowboys will advance six individuals to this week’s state tournament. Spencer Trenary (285) goes in as a champion of his bracket and stays unbeaten at 46-0 to be the favorite to win it all this time around. Finishing second to also advance were Tyler Stein (113), Garrett Seaba (120), Remington Hanson (132), Keaton Wilson (145) and Sam Wigans (182).
