Winter sports will soon be underway

The student-athletes have been practicing hard, and now it’s time to hit the hardwood and the mat as the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows winter sports season schedules get underway for another year.

The Cowgirls opened their basketball campaign this past Tuesday night in Britt versus West Hancock, and will next host Northwood-Kensett on Tuesday, December 2.

The Cowboys basketball team will also make their season debut that same night. The two teams then hit the road for games at North Butler on Thursday, Dec. 4, and at Algona on Friday, Dec. 5.

Coach Kurt Morgan’s defending Class 1A State Duals champion wrestlers will open their bid for another title on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Hampton-Dumont.

They will wrestle at the Eagle Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Eagle Grove.

Be watching for the joint Eagle/Monitor Winter Sports Tab coming out in early December, with team photos, stories, rosters and schedules of all the team’s that will be in action. Check the pages of the Monitor every week, all season long, for complete sports coverage of your Cowgirl and Cowboy athletes!
