Update: County discusses issues with rural landlines...again

NOTICE: This is an updated brief concerning the issues surrounding rural landlines, an ongoing discussion at the last two meetings of the Wright County Board of Supervisors.

The Wright County Board of Supervisors briefly discussed the issues surrounding rural landlines at their re-organizational meeting on January 2.

District #2 Supervisor Stan Watne, after further conversing with the other county officials, feels the situation needs to be taken care of immediately.

And the other county officials emphatically agreed.

We have been going through this long enough, Watne said. Something needs to be done now.

Several representatives from Goldfield Access Network will be in early next week to test the phones lines and try to regenerate the error in order to hopefully locate the source of the problem.

Once again, county officials, this time it seemed even more seriously, talked about looking into switching to another phone system.

The Board mentioned speaking with a few local businesses and organizations, one being the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows School District, to learn more about the ones they use.

Stay tuned for more updates on the situation and what county officals are planning to do next.
