Supervisors talk about road issues and approve 15 million dollar chicken litter project

The Wright County Board of Supervisors met for their meeting Monday morning. Throughout the course of the meeting, the board discussed a variety of road and engineering issues and also held a short public hearing.

Jeremy Abbas, Assistant to the Engineer, appeared before the board to update on various road issues. He noted that as of Monday morning, 99 miles of the county’s secondary roads are closed or have water over them. Every gravel road ranges from minor ruts to impassable. Abbas noted that the county had to build an extra 30 road closure signs to keep up with the flooding. The secondary road department still advices no travel on gravel roads.

Because of the rural road conditions, that department asked the board to consider a resolution that would authorize the county engineer to order any secondary road closed to vehicles in excess of five tons per axle whenever it is deemed necessary for a period not exceed 90 days.
