Supervisors hear report on county wellness program numbers

At Monday’s Wright County Supervisors meeting, Peggy Schluttenhofer and Jen Sheehan presented the end of year County Wellness Program numbers. Overall, the women were happy with the participation they saw this year compared to previous years. Numbers of county employees taking part in the program increased which will result in the county getting a 5% discount in insurance premiums. Both Schluttenhofer and Sheehan noted they will be effectively resigning from the Wellness committee this year so they will be seeking a new head. Chairman Rick Rasmussen said, “You both have done a fantastic job in heading this up.”

The board held the second tier canvass for the November 5 city/school election. A second canvass is now held since surrounding counties have to send in the vote counts on elections that Wright County controls. For instance, since Dows is located in Wright and Franklin counties, Franklin County had to send in the vote counts for the Dows races from the people who voted in Franklin County. The second tier canvass essentially signs off on the cumulative vote numbers for all races and is the last step to make the election final.
