Sherwood ‘Pete’ Larsen

Sherwood ‘Pete’ Larsen, 80, of Clarion passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, 420 First Street Northwest in Clarion. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Sherwood Dee, son of Lewis and Esther (Johansen) Larsen, was born on October 9, 1939 in Hampton. Pete grew up on a farm near Coulter. He attended and graduated from Franklin Consolidated in Latimer. After high school, Pete helped local farmers and began driving truck. Pete drove truck for Umthun Trucking in Eagle Grove for almost 30 years before he retired. After trucking with Umthun, Pete trucked for the Clarion Co-op until his health declined.

In 1960, Pete met Marcia Moore on a blind date in Mason City. On October 13, 1962, Pete and Marcia were united in marriage. They made their home in Clarion where they raised their two children, Lance and Misty.

Pete never met a stranger. He always visited with people anywhere he went. After he retired, he enjoyed having coffee with the guys at Hardees. He enjoyed watching sports, mostly football. His family was important to him and loved spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his wife Marcia of Clarion; two children Lance (Jennifer) Larsen of Eagle Grove and Misty (Eric) Davidson of North Dakota; seven grandchildren: Dakotah, Isaac, Kelsey, Taylor, Megan, Autumn, and Annika; two great-grandchildren; brother Richard Larsen of Coulter; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister; nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles.
