Seventh grade volleyball team takes first in AAU State Tournament

The CGD 7^th grade AAU volleyball team, coached by Alison Friesleben and Mandi Middleton, competed against 53 teams from across Iowa on Saturday, March 19, in the state AAU tournament held in Ankeny.  The tournament consists of pool play, power pool play, then splits into bracket play, and is not divided by class size.  The team placed 1^st in both their pool and power pool.  In order to claim the title, the girls beat the Sioux City Attack.  For the season the team took 1^st place at the Clarion 7^th grade AAU tournament, South High Pride 7th grade AAU tournament, Roland-Story 8^th grade AAU tournament, and 2^nd place at the Osage 8^th grade AAU tournament.
