Sellers Hanson in another wonderful portrayal of her mother

“Fond Memories of Alvina” presented Sunday at Museum

Thanks to all of the remembrances and stories that are forever etched in the mind of Dr. Sandra Sellers Hanson, she once again brought to life her mother Alvina Sellers for the audience at the Heartland Museum on Sunday. As everyone followed along to the life and adventures of “Iowa’s Hat Lady,” you quickly became entranced to the point of thinking it was actually Alvina herself on stage. It was that good.

Sandra started the play by introducing herself as Alvina Sellers. And that she is using the occasion to celebrate her 100th birthday. She stated she was also proud of the fact that she shared a birthday with Frank Sinatra. As she always did for each of her 5,636 shows, Alvina opened this one with the same greeting to her audience: “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
