Roger Rollene

Roger L. Rollene, 78, of Clarion, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.  Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Home.
Roger Lee, son of Dale and Ruth (Ward) Rollene, was born on April 17, 1944 in Hampton. Roger grew up in Dows and graduated from Dows High School in 1962. Shortly after high school, Roger was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Vietnam for a year.
After returning from Vietnam, Roger first started working for the Department of Transportation, drove truck for the coop in Holmes, and then drove truck for Ennis Trucking for 19 years before moving to Idaho Falls. He worked at Monroc until retirement. Roger lived in Idaho Falls for 25+ years before moving back to Clarion.
In 1972, Roger was united in marriage to Irene Schipper. The couple was blessed with three children. Roger was later married to Marie Simpson on June 14, 1997 in Idaho Falls. After moving back to Clarion, Roger enjoyed spending the last few years with his loving companion, Shirley Berens.
Not only did Roger travel to different states while trucking, he also traveled all over following racing. He loved dirt track racing. Roger enjoyed spending time with his dogs and friends, also known as his “fan club.” 
Roger is survived by his son Jason (Chantelle) Rollene; daughter Melissa Acheson; son Ryan (Amy) Rollene; step-son Michael Hart; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Virginia (Richard) Cheyne; loving companion Shirley Berens; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Ruth Rollene; and wife Marie.

IMCA 2 day race for the Roger Rollene Memorial Race at Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, Wyoming on May 26 and May 27. All drivers are encouraged and welcomed for the fundraiser.
