Peer Helpers gearing up for Glow Run

For the second year in a row, the C-G-D middle school student leadership group, Peer Helpers, is organizing its Glow Run 5k. Peer Helpers is known for the fun activities that they sponsor, like Senior Night, the elementary carnival, and school dances. However, fun and games is only one part of what Peer Helpers does.

Margaret Askelson, counselor at the middle school, said that the eighth grade students set the plan for what activities Peer Helpers will do that year. In the past, this has included delivering fruit baskets for the Christmas Club, helping with Make a Difference Day, holding a talent show at the Meadows, volunteering at sports events, and helping with the community Jingle Jog.

“We promote things that exemplify what we want the school to be about,” Askelson said.

In addition to service projects, Peer Helpers also raises money through events like the Glow Run, and they use those funds to serve, too.
