Mikaela Livengood named by PGA as Iowa Junior Tour Player of Year

The Iowa Junior Tour Player of the Year is awarded to a junior in each age division with the highest points accrued at the end of the season. This prestigious award is the highest honor that a junior can receive for their accomplishments on the Iowa Junior Tour. For 2013, Player of the Year point totals were compiled from all events in which the junior participated and were kept track of in BlueGolf. There were four event categories: Ace, Eagle, Birdie and Par, with aces worth the most points down to the least points for a par score. A junior must also be an Iowa Junior Tour member to accrue the points needed to be Player of the Year.

Mikaela Livengood of Eagle Grove, who is a junior at Clarion-Goldfield and the daughter of Chris and Brenda Livengood, accumulated 3,437.5 points by playing in 15 tournaments. She also played in three tournaments where points were not awarded to players. Mikaela played hard all season long and committed to a heavy schedule to secure the Girls 16-18 title. During these tournaments, she competed against girls in high school classes ranging from 1A to 5A and from all over the state of Iowa. Some of the highlights for her included high finishes at the Quad Cities Junior at Palmer Hills, Pheasant Ridge Junior, Veenker Junior Amateur, Iowa PGA Cedar Rapids Junior, Junior Tour Classic in Fort Dodge and the Junior Tour Championship. With all of that, she somehow still found time to play in a few parent-junior events with her dad.
