Meet Sara Sheller, marketing specialist

As Wright County and its communities focus on growth, local organizations are reaching out to try and show people what our area has to offer. In order to do that, Wright County Economic Development decided it was time to take on someone who could focus on showing the county to its best advantage. This month, the department hired Sarah Sheller, new county marketing specialist.

“We felt a position geared toward marketing services while still conducting administrative services for Wright County would be the most beneficial way to assist the department’s efforts,” said Bryce Davis, economic development director. “There are many programs and services that are available to businesses, non-profit organizations, and institutions that need to be showcased and there are incredible things happening around the County that need to be brought to people’s attention. The time was right to find new ways to add value to the department’s offerings.”

Sheller’s work experience has involved many aspects of marketing over the years, though this is the first time she’s borne the title. She earned a master’s in communication studies from the University of Northern Iowa and worked for almost 12 years in the University of Iowa library system. Wanting to do more with her degree, she moved to California and started doing research with a marketing company. Later, she worked for the California Office of the Inspector General in publications.

“I was helping out with editing and writing. We also did event planning for the agency,” Sheller said. “Communication has always been a part of what I do.”
