Linda Rosenbaum one of 2016's 100 Great Iowa Nurses

100 Great Iowa Nurses, an organization dedicated to celebrating the achievements of nurses and providing scholarships for nursing students, announced their 100 honorees for their 2016 awards on March 1. Linda Rosenbaum, nurse leader at Iowa Specialty Hospital – Clarion, was one of them.

Rosenbaum, who’s been in her current position for two years, has only been a nurse for five. She previously worked as a lab technician for a hospital in Newton, Iowa, where she didn’t have much opportunity to work with patients. When her family moved here for her husband, Gene’s, job in 2000, and she began working in Clarion, she found that there was a big difference between large and small hospitals. “I started to get to know patients,” she said. “The more I got to meet people, the more I just wanted to do more.”

Rosenbaum went back to school for her Registered Nurse degree, which involved taking classes while working a full-time job while raising seven children. “It was a family effort,” she said.
