Library celebrates 10 year anniversary of renovation project

Last Sunday, the Clarion Public Library commemorated 10 years since completing their building renovation. In late September of 2009, the library held their ribbon cutting. The library added an addition to the north. This included an expanded circulation area, more space for shelving, as well as meeting space. The goal of the project was to preserve the historic feel of the building but also move it forward into the future.

The open house on Sunday welcomed Clarionites to the library for refreshments as well as various demonstrations of library services and databases. People learned about the new media lab from Technical Services Librarian Wyatt Haas. Library Volunteer Becky Ahrendsen showed patrons how to use the Bridges program to access e-books and audiobooks. Library Director Linda Lloyd said she’s pleased with all the progress the library has made through the years. She explains, “Our library has gotten to be about so much more than just books.”

One thing the library did for the anniversary was ask library-goers “Why they love their library” and posted the answers at the library,

            Notable answers include:

-“I love the library because it's a safe and fun place for the whole family and nurtures our love for learning!”
