Imagine That for 10 years

Rich and Laurie LaRue recently celebrated 32 years of marriage and 10 years of owning their store, Imagine That. In it, they sell everything from personalized stuffed animals to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows shirts, and they create most of what they make right in the back of the shop.

Laurie originally bought the business from her employer. Back then, they did embroidery almost exclusively and were located on Central Ave Across from the courthouse. The LaRues were there for three years before purchasing their Main Street shop.

Laurie said she hadn’t had any training doing machine embroidery until 11 years ago when she first took the job. She’s found she really enjoys it. “It’s creative and fun, but when we get a big order, we can crank it out,” she said.

“For me it’s the people,” Rich said. “You meet a lot of interesting people.”
