Honor Flight returned home Saturday

At 11:05 p.m., 151 Iowa veterans landed at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport, home from their Honor Flight to Washington D.C. At least 300 spectators waited for their return and cheered each veteran as they disembarked from the plane.

The group had the opportunity to visit the World War II, Korean War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans memorials, as well as Arlington national Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial.

Many of the welcoming group created signs that said things like “Thank you for your service!” “We love you, Dad!” and “We’re proud of you.” These and dozens of flags were waved to honor each veteran.
