Help make Clarion's haunted house Spooktacular

While last week brought summer temperatures back to Clarion, fall is on its way. With it comes Halloween, and with Halloween will come the second year of Clarion’s new seasonal attraction: the Spooktacular Nights haunted house.

Since early spring of this year, a small group of planners and organizers have been discussing how to make Spooktacular Nights even better than last year. Now, volunteers are meeting regularly to put the plans in action and construct the path through the old barn at Lions Park. However, there’s a lot of work to be done before the October 20 opening date.

“We need volunteers, and we need donations,” said Belva German, chair of the Spooktacular Nights committee.

The organizing committee has about eight regulars, but they would like to take on more people to help lead. In addition, they hope to get at least 40 actors to perform and another 20 people to help as guides, ticket takers, and other supporting roles on performance nights. Volunteers are also needed to help do makeup, construction, sewing for costumes, and set up the technological elements of the haunted house. In addition, the haunted house committee will take donations of lumber, fabric, props supplies, and money.
