Grounded in dreams: new Grounded owner Maggie Solis fulfills lifelong goal of owning a restaurant

Grounded has been part of Clarion’s Main Street since 2011. Earlier this summer, then-owner Steve Simonin sold the shop to Maggie and Ray Solis. The Solises have now owned Grounded for two months, but for Maggie, the hope of opening a restaurant has been in play much longer.

“It has always been my dream,” she said.

Solis grew up working in her parents’ store, Conlon Bakery, which used to be where Fuel is today. She said that the question she gets asked most often is if she will put any of her dad’s baked goods on the menu. She doesn’t intend for Grounded to be a bakery, but hopes to incorporate some more of his recipes over time.

“I think it would be a way of honoring him, by bringing it back little by little,” she said.

For Solis, Grounded has been a family effort from the beginning.
