Four Cowboy baseball players make all-conference

The 2019 Cowboy baseball team finished at 8-16 overall, with a 5-9 conference record which put them in sixth place. Webster City took the crown at 12-2 followed by Humboldt at 11-3 and Clear Lake at 9-5. Four players made the North Central All-Conference lists. Nate Rapp and Tyler Stein were named to the 1st Team and Reed Abbas to the 2nd Team in balloting by league coaches. Brier Boyd received a nod to the 3rd Team.

As a team, the Cowboys had 614 total at-bats to produce 120 total runs on 163 total hits. There were 29 doubles, three triples and 10 homeruns. A total of 105 RBI were produced. There were three sac fly’s, 88 walks taken and 68 steals in 73 attempts. The team had a collective .265 batting average, with a .371 slugging percentage.

Reed Abbas had 31 hits in 75 at-bats for a .413 batting average. Tyler Stein had 28 hits in 77 at-bats for a .364 average. Nate Rapp had 23 hits in 73 at-bats for a .315 average. Brier Boyd had 19 hits in 71 at-bats for a .268 average. Cael Chase had 16 hits in 70 at-bats for a .229 average. Mateo Martinez had 14 hits in 57 at-bats for a .246 average.
