Fifth graders take a trip to the Science Center of Iowa

Zap.

Last week, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows fifth graders' visit to the Science Center of Iowa turned out to be quite a hair raising experience.

Through the use of a Van de Graaff generator and Tesla Coli, the students saw first hand how electricity travels and affects particular objects.

"We are currently finishing our unit on electricity and solar energy so many stations were a perfect fit," said Tanja Jensen, who is the fifth grade science instructor. "I was enthused the kids could answer many questions the scientists asked them."
