Cross country teams compete at conference meet

The North Central Conference cross country meet was held last Tuesday at the Lakeside Golf Course north of Fort Dodge. Humboldt took the varsity girls team title with 40 points, followed by St. Edmond with 83 and Algona with 84. The rest of the teams finished like this: Iowa Falls-Alden 112, Clear Lake 124, Webster City 127, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows/CAL 158 and Hampton-Dumont 207.

Finishes and times for the Cowgirl varsity were as follows: Kenzie Alberts ninth in 21:06.4; Claire Davis 15th in 21:55.9; Shelby Engh 37th in 23:37.2; Angela Castro 46th in 24:42.3; Kayleen Johnson 51st in 24:50.7; Sid Magee 52nd in 25:00.4 and Makayla Konopasek 54th in 25:50.5.

For the JV, it was Myriam Carrillo was the lead runner with a 28:07.3 for 20th place. Behind her were: Payton Reiter 21st in 28:12.9; Jade LaRue 22nd in 28:18.1; Angela Garcia 26th in 29:30.0; Evelyn Tevalan 29th in 29:57.6 and Ami Martinez 31st in 30:39.0. The Cowgirls were the third of three full teams in the final team standings.
