Cross country teams compete at Algona meet

Last Monday at the River Road course, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls and boys cross country teams competed in a meet hosted by Algona. Charles City won the girls team crown with 53 points, with the Cowgirls 11th with 306 points.

Raven Kinnetz was the top finisher for the red & black, taking 27th in 23:31.29. She was followed by: Waldina Villanueva in 66th with 26:02.77; Makayla Pulido in 72nd with 26:36.51; Natalie Kirstein in 79th with 27:04.62; Alisha Vatne in 100th with 30:32.89; Kylie Klaver in 106th with 32:06.24 and Lauren Hansch in 109th with 33:38.57.

“Raven medaled for us, and for the second meet in a row we had a lot of big personal records (PR’s),” stated head coach Daniel Murray. “Makayla set a new PR by nearly two minutes! She’s taken almost three minutes off of her 5K time in the last two weeks. The girls were only nine points away from Clear lake, and that margin was 24 points the week before. We also finished ahead of Webster City by 10 points. It looks to be a close race between us, the Lions and the Lynx at the conference meet.”
