Cowgirls take wins over West Hancock, St. Ed

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity softball team enjoyed a huge win 14-1 last Tuesday at West Hancock. The team took a 3-1 lead into the top of the fourth, where they proceeded to bust the game wide open by plating 11 runs to end it after four complete frames. Part of that scoring rampage was a two-run homer by Hannah Kapka.

Maddie Disney was 2 of 3 and scored three runs, while Emily Kapka went 3 of 3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Michy Reiter and Megab Askelsen also had base hits for the cause. Chloe Johnson tallied an RBI, with Hannah Kapka and Askelsen both scoring two runs each. Johnson, Reiter, Lexy Gatewood, Karlie Sellner and Maya Jackson all crossed the plate once each. Disney ran amok on the base paths, picking up three steals with H. Kapka getting two. E. Kapka, Alex Hackley and Sellner all managed to pick off one bag each. H.Kapka showed a good eye in drawing three walks, while Reiter managed two walks and Disney, Hannah TerHark, Sydney TerHark and Askelsen all one free pass apiece.

Sydney got the win in the circle, allowing no earned runs on a one-hitter with no walks and eight K’s.
