Cowgirls score some runs, but can’t find a win in three games

Last Tuesday in Clarion, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity softball team lost a 21-5 game to Belmond-Klemme. The Broncos started strong in plating eight runs in their half of the first and never looked back from there.

The Cowgirls brought three runs across in their half of the fifth, starting with Hannah TerHark reaching on an error. Maddie Disney then reached second on a fielder’s choice, with TerHark out at second. Michy Reiter reached on another fielder’s choice, with Disney then thrown out. Lexy Gatewood came to the plate and reached on an error, with Reiter moving to the bag at second. Gatewood eventually brought across another Cowgirl run, and Emma Konvalinka scored before the Cowgirls ended their at-bat. Konvalinka scored her second run of the game in the seventh on a groundout by Hannah Kapka.
