Cowgirls put it all together for first win 47-42 at St. Ed

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls basketball team was finally able to break into the win column this past Monday, seizing the opportunity in a 47-42 road win at St. Edmond. The Gaels led 25-18 at the break.

“We finally put a whole game together, with a stretch where we looked unstoppable,” stated head coach Kevin Kakacek. "We finished it for the win. When we can handle the press we’re a good basketball team.”

Hannah Terhark dropped in 13 points which included a nice 5 of 6 from the charity line. Megan Askelsen and Sydney Terhark both scored eight points, with Sydney sinking a pair of three-point bombs. Chloe Johnson scored six points, Lili Swanson and Vanessa Kolb both four points each and Courtney Harle and Emily Kapka both two points each. Sydney hauled in six rebounds, with Johnson, Swanson, Kolb and Kapka all grabbing two caroms apiece. Maya Jackson and Askelsen added one each.

Johnson dished out two assists, with Sydney, Swanson, Askelsen and Kolb all credited with one each. Askelsen swiped five steals and Harle four, with Johnson getting her hands on three thefts and Kolb two. Sydney and Lili both had one apiece. Hannah made two blocked shots and Vanessa one.
