Cowgirls play well in 6-4 loss to Algona

Kapka, Sydney TerHark rip doubles

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team had their bats working well enough last Wednesday in the home opener versus Algona to get a win, but the defense couldn’t quite hold the Bulldogs down in a 6-4 loss.

In the first, Hannah Kapka reached on an error, and advanced a base on another error. A Rilley Ring Foss single advanced her to third and then she scored. With the Bulldogs up 6-1 to start the seventh, Emma Konvalinka reached on a walk followed by Lexy Gatewood advancing to the bag on first on an error. With two on and one out, Kapka’s double scored Konvalinka with Gatewood standing on third. She would score, with Foss taking a walk. Kapka then got the steal sign and took off, grabbing the bag at third while Chloe Johnson reached base on a fielders choice.
