Cowgirls lose tight 3-2 game at Webster City

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity softball team traveled to Webster City last Wednesday night, playing a a tight and exciting game versus the Lynx before dropping a 3-2 decision. The ladies brought single runs across the plate in both the first and third innings. Disney got a base hit to lead off the Cowgirl first, followed two outs later by TerHark’s single scoring her from third. In the third, Askelsen reached on an error and also advanced to second the same way. Following an out, TerHark found her second base hit with Cierra Milner running for her from there. That also moved Askelsen along, and she would make it home courtesy of Chloe Johnson.

Hannah TerHark’s bat was on fire in this one, as the junior went 4 of 4 with two double-baggers and an RBI. Maddie Disney was 2 of 4 and scored a run. Chloe Johnson had a hit and an RBI, while Megan Askelsen and Emily Kapka both reached on singles with Megan scoring the other run. Disney had the only steal for the Cowgirls.

Sydney TerHark took the loss in the circle, but surrendered just one earned run on five hits with two walks and seven K’s.
