Cowgirls knock off 7th rated Iowa Falls-Alden

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team made a statement last Thursday night, and may have laid down their claim to a possible conference title in a four-set win over 7th rated (3A) Iowa Falls-Alden. Scores were: W25-21, W25-21, L25-16 and W27-25.

 

Team serving was at 95.7 percent, with Alaina Friesleben going 22 of 23 (two aces). Morgan Middleton was 19 of 19 (two), Jadyn Jondle 15 of 15 and both Megan Askelsen and Vanessa Kolb 12 of 13 (Megan one ace) for the night. Nerem went 8 of 9 from the serve line.

 

Friesleben set the ball for 45 assists, with Kolb and Madison Kubly adding two each. Middleton had an unbelievable 26 kills, with Kolb tallying nine and both Emily Kapka and Nerem eight apiece. Kubly added two and Friesleben one to the attack.
