Cowgirls keep rolling with two more golf meet wins

Last Tuesday in Gowrie, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls varsity won a meet over Southeast Valley 201-239. Mikaela Livengood secured medalist honors by shooting a 44, with teammate Shanee Tate the runner-up with a 51. Other counting scores were Jenalee Hinkle and Hope Polzin with identical 53 totals. Rounds were also played by Kaylee Smith (55) and Cassie Hanson (65).

“It was cold and very windy, definitely not ideal weather and factored in everyone’s game,” said head coach Dan Smith. “The wind was blowing 20-35 mph. The course was in good shape, with several trees that came into play but was relatively flat. I was proud of our girls efforts and ability to stay focused and fight through the conditions, with many of them not starting off the best. The Jaguars coach commented to me how much higher their score was than expected. I can say that our girls shot very close to their average, and were mentally stronger than the Southeast team. It is good to have challenges of all varieties, and this day tested our mental strength with the below average conditions.”
