Defeat two rated teams during the day

The Clarion-Goldfield varsity volleyball team is really starting to round into form, and nowhere was that more evident than at last Saturday’s tournament at Bishop Garrigan in Algona.

“We went 4-2 on the day, a great day for the girls,” said head coach Katrina TerHark. “We showed signs of great progress and need to continue to build on those positive experiences.”

They started the day with a loss to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura by set scores of 21-8, 25-22. The team served at 93.5 percent, with Maddie Disney going 6 of 6 with an ace. Jossie Sann and Mara Warnke were both 5 of 5, and Jenalee Hinkle was 7 of 8 with three huge aces. Hinkle managed four assists as setter, and Disney set three balls and had four kills to lead the attack along with having a team-leading eight digs. Celeste Swanson and Hannah TerHark each had a solo block on defense.
