Cowgirls defeat North Butler, lose to Algona

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity basketball team received double-digit scoring from two players in defeating North Butler 56-27 last Thursday on the Bearcats home floor. After holding only an 8-3 lead after one quarter of play, the red and black stormed out to a 30-11 halftime advantage and sailed on from there for their first win of the new season.

“I’m very proud of the girls in this game,” said head coach Kevin Kakacek. “We did not have two of our regular starters in the lineup, and had one sub that was sick. Being down three girls that usually play, we needed some others to step up their game and prove they could play on the varsity level and they did."
