Cowgirls defeat Eagles, drop matches to Humboldt, Algona

Even though the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team could only find one win in action last week, they still did find some good individual efforts along the way as they prepare for the regional tournament trail just ahead.

Last Tuesday in Humboldt, they lost to the highly-rated Wildcats in three straight by scores of 25-15, 25-11 and 25-18. Team serving was at just under 98 percent, with Hannah Kapka making a perfect 12 of 12 with two aces thrown in. Ana Johnson was 8 of 8, Sydney TerHark 7 of 7, Kaylee Smith 6 of 6, Maddie Disney 6 of 7 and Megan Askelsen 5 of 5.

Kapka set for 21 assists, with Askelsen adding one. Hannah TerHark had eight kills from the front row, with both Disney and Johnson adding six each. Emily Kapka had four successful spikes, with Hannah Kapka and Sydney both adding one kill apiece.
