Cowgirls defeat Broncos, lose to Hampton-Dumont

Last Thursday night in Belmond, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity girls defeated the home Broncos 51-32. The game was tied at 13-13 after a quarter, with the red and black starting to establish their claim to the contest in outscoring the home team 13 points to three for a 26-16 halftime lead. They proceeded to put it away thru the third quarter, going up 40-20 to start the final period.

Courtney Harle swished in 18 points, which included going 4 of 4 from the line. Raven Kinnetz netted eight points with two baskets from downtown, Quinn Hansch six points on a pair of treys, Mariah Frye four points and both Kendall Lienemann and Emily Kapka two points each. Harle reached a double-double by adding 10 rebounds, with Frye getting five, Kinnetz three and Kylie Greenfield two. Sid Magee, Maya Jackson, Hansch, Megan Askelsen, Vanessa Kolb, Lienemann, Jadyn Jondle and Kapka all grabbed one carom apiece for the night.

On Friday night, they hosted Hampton-Dumont and lost 52-43 to the Bulldogs. The visitors were up 21-14 at the break. Kinnetz led the scoring column with 12 points including a three-pointer. Kolb had eight points, Hansch six points with a trey, Harle and Askelsen five points each, Kapka four points and Lauren Odland a bucket from beyond the arc for three points total. Kapka grabbed six rebounds, with Kinnetz and Harle getting five each. Kolb took possession of three caroms, Frye two and both Hansch and Askelsen one each.
