Cowgirls come close in 3-2 loss at Iowa Falls

In a great effort and chance to put another game in the win column, the Cowgirl softball team was defeated 3-2 by Iowa Falls-Alden on the Cadets home field last Monday. After the home team scored a pair of runs to take a 3-1 lead into the top of the seventh, the red & black got one back but could get no closer.

Courtney Harle and Kendall Lienemann both went 2 for 4, with Kendall scoring a run. Emily Kapka was 2 for 2, while Quinn Hansch, Emma Schluttenhofer, Remi Johnson and Paige Willey all reached on base hits. Emma and Remi had an RBI each, with Paige scoring a run. Harle, Lienemann, Hansch, Johnson, Brooke Askelsen and Willey all stole a bag each, while Quinn and Remi showed good patience at the plate to draw two walks each. Emily and Paige had one free pass each.

Gabby Hackley took the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits over six innings. She had one walk and two K’s.
