Cowgirls close out schedule on a roll with two more wins

Last Thursday night at Hampton, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team scored a four-set win over Hampton-Dumont by scores of L25-22, W25-17, W25-23 and W25-21. Team serving was at 92.7 percent, with Haley Nerem going 20 of 20 (one ace) and Jadyn Jondle 19 of 20 (two). Vanessa Kolb was 15 of 16, Alaina Friesleben 13 of 15 (one), Megan Askelsen 12 of 12 and Kenna Kruger 10 of 13.

Kruger set for 41 assists and Friesleben 13. Nerem had 22 kills and Morgan Middleton 20. Askelsen made 25 digs, with Nerem getting 19 and Jondle 14 saves. Kapka, Kolb and Middleton all had a solo block each, with Kapka also having two block assists and both Kolb and Nerem one each.

“We finished the conference schedule with a win,” said head coach Katrina TerHark. “That puts us in a tie for second place. One of our team goals was to finish in the top three, so it’s great to finish in the top two. It was great to have our student section back cheering us on. We have some things we need to work on to get ready for this Wednesday.”

Prior to that match, they won at Garner on Tuesday over the Cardinals in three straight.
