Cowgirls bow out of regionals at Humboldt

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team faced a tall task in trying to defeat a rated Humboldt team on their home floor in the first round of Class 3A regional action this past Monday. While they had their moments of toe to toe play, they just couldn’t overcome the odds as the Wildcats won 25-12, 25-18 and 25-17.

Team serving was at just under 95 percent, with Maddie Disney going 11 of 13 with three aces. Megan Askelsen, Hannah Kapka and Hannah TerHark were all 9 of 9, with Megan getting an ace. Kaylee Smith was 6 of 6, Sydney TerHark 5 of 5 and Ana Johnson 6 of 7 with an ace.

Hannah Kapka set for 20 assists. With Smith adding one from her spot. Disney hammered home seven kills, with the TerHark sisters each making five successful spikes for points. Johnson and Emily Kapka both had three kills apiece.
