Cowgirls beat Cardinals in three, go 4-1 at Forest City

In a close and hard-fought match last Thursday in Garner, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team overcame the Cardinals in three straight. Set scores were 31-29, 25-20 and 25-23. The team served at just over 91 percent, with Lili Swanson going 17 of 19 with two ace serves. Kaylee Smith was 14 of 15 with two aces. Sydney TerHark was 13 of 13 with two aces, Hannah Kapka 13 of 15 with two aces and Maddie Disney 9 of 10 with three aces. Hannah TerHark went 7 of 8 with one ace.

Sydney set for two assists and Sam Nerem one. Disney had 15 kills in the attack mode, with Swanson making seven successful spikes for points. Ana Johnson, H. TerHark and S. TerHark all had four kills each and Kapka one.

The 43 total digs were led by Disney, who had the volleyball equivalent of a double-double by also making 15 digs. Sydney had 10, Smith six, Nerem five and Swanson four. Kapka added two digs and H. TerHark one. Sydney made two solo blocks, with Disney and Swanson each credited with one. Swanson and Sydney each had a block assist.
