Cowgirls add two more games to win column

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity softball team has now won more games than a year ago, and still have a ways to go in this year’s schedule as they head towards July.

Last Tuesday at Belmond-Klemme, they defeated the Broncos 7-2 after plating four runs in the fourth inning. Hannah Kapka swung a strong bat in this one, going 3 of 5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Faith Nelson was 2 of 4 with a run scored, while both Lexy Gatewood and Hannah TerHark knocked in two runs each on their lone hit. Michy Reiter and Megan Askelsen both stroked base hits, with Megan also crossing the plate once. Emily Kapka had an RBI and scored twice, while Gatewood also scored a run. Reiter and E. Kapka drew a free pass each.

Sydney TerHark took the win in the circle, giving up just two earned runs on a four-hitter. She walked just one and threw five K’s.
