Cowgirl volleyball drops two meets at home, does well on Saturday

Even though the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity volleyball team had a rough week in losing three matches, they ended it on Saturday with a nice effort at the Bishop Garrigan Invitational.

They hosted both Algona and Pocahontas Area on Tuesday for a triangular, with Algona taking the first match in straight sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-21. The team served right at 90 percent, with both Kaylee Smith and Lili Swanson going a perfect 8 of 8. Hannah TerHark was 7 of 8, Sydney TerHark a perfect 5 of 5, Hannah Kapka 5 of 6 and Maddie Disney 3 of 4 with an ace thrown in.

Kapka set the ball for 15 assists, with Disney making one. There were 18 total kills, with Swanson making five and Sydney four successful spikes for points. Hannah TerHark and Ana Johnson each had three kills, with Disney, Sam Nerem and Smith all chipping in one each.
