Cowgirl volleyball defeats rated Humboldt in four sets

It took four sets to do it, but the 8th ranked (2A) Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls cleared a major hurdle to a possible conference title by defeating the only other team standing in their way…the 12th ranked (3A) Humboldt Wildcats. The Cowgirls staked their claim to the crown with set scores of: W25-21, L27-25, W25-22 and W25-22. As you can see from those scores, it was anything but easy.

Team serving was at nearly 96 percent, with Morgan Middleton a crisp 27 of 27 (one ace). Kendall Lienemann finished 18 of 19 (one), Alaina Friesleben 17 of 18 (four), Nicole Waters 13 of 13 and Jadyn Jondle 10 of 10. Lexie Lane added a 9 of 11 night to round it out.

Friesleben chalked up 45 assists as primary setter, with Jondle and Summer Traub making two apiece in support. Middleton brought her ‘A’ game in making 32 winning spikes, followed by Lienemann with 15 and Lane with four. Jondle and Traub added one each in their time on the court.

The 91 total digs column had four ladies in double digits, headed by Jondle with 26 saves of the ball. Middleton made 18, Friesleben 16 and Lienemann 15 digs. Emma Conlon added six, Lane five, Waters three and Traub two in support. Friesleben rounded out her night with no less than four solo blocks, with Lane making three, Lienemann and Middleton two each and Traub one. Traub also had three block assists, with Lane and Waters making two each. Friesleben and Middleton had one assist each.
