Cowgirl track & field take fourth at Eagle Grove

Several strong individual and relay efforts highlighted a fourth place team finish for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track & field team at the Lady Eagle Relays last Thursday in Eagle Grove. Algona took the team title at the cold and windy event with 162 points, followed by Webster City at a distant second with 119 points. The rest finished like this: Eagle Grove 83, C-G-D 70, North Union 43, Clear Lake 43, West Hancock 42 and Fort Dodge Public 25.

“The girls showed toughness on a cold, windy night,” stated head coach Monty Harker. “It was good to be able to see Algona run.”

Claire Davis (400 dash), Kenzie Alberts (800) and Maddie Disney (long jump) all scored gold medals, with both the 4x8 and sprint medley relays also breaking the tape in first place. “Claire didn’t post a great time but still won,” said the head coach. “Kenzie can run in any kind of weather, and it doesn’t seem to affect her times. Maddie didn’t take all her jumps and still won. The 4x8 didn’t have a lot of competition to push us, so our time wasn’t as good.”
