Cowgirl track and field in three meets last week

Last Tuesday, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track & field team finished third at the Cardinal Relays hosted by Garner-Hayfield/Ventura. Central Springs won with 156 points, followed by: Lake Mills 108, C-G-D 105, Eagle Grove 92, Hampton-Dumont 90.5, G-H/V 64.5, Clear Lake 58 and Forest City 41.

“We didn’t have a lot of personal bests (PB), but it was good to compete with some of our district teams,” said head coach Monty Harker. Highlights listed by him included Disney first in long jump, Hennigar with a new PB in the discus which was close to a school record, Hennigar with a new PB in the shot, Davis winning the 400 and Alberts the 800 and the sprint medley taking first.

“Mikayla did an outstanding job overall,” said Harker. “Nerem had a good split in the distance med, and Kenzie’s time in the 800 was not too bad. Even though we won it, I thought we might be faster in the sprint med but weather conditions played a factor. We were close to Central Springs in both the 4x1 and 4x4.”
