Cowgirl track and field team second at S. Hamilton, third at Lake Mills

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track & field team took part in two meets in the past week, doing well in both with several great performances by the ladies in red and black.

On Monday, April 24, in a meet not reported on last week, the Cowgirls finished third at the Lady Bulldog Meet in Lake Mills. Osage took the team title with 145 points, followed by: Central Springs 107, C-G-D 87, Lake Mills 80, Eagle Grove 78, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 73 and Belmond-Klemme 15.

“It was a windy and cold night again, as usual,” stated head coach Monty Harker. “I thought third as a team was not too bad. We did see teams we’ll face at the qualifier.” He was pleased that the field events got them off to a good start, with new personal best marks by both Hennigar (shot) and Nelson (discus). “That was good to see,” said the head coach. “Mikayla is currently in the top 24 in the state rankings.”

Tuesday was the Hawkette Relays hosted by South Hamilton in Jewell. Nevada took the team title in this small meet with 80 points, followed by the Cowgirls tied with Roland-Story at 72 points each. South Hamilton finished with 48 points.
