Cowgirl track and field team competes in Garner

Garner-Hayfield/Ventura hosted the rescheduled Lady Relays this past Monday night, with Osage taking the class A title with 135 points. They were followed by Central Springs with 112, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura with 105, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with 92, Lake Mills with 81 and Eagle Grove with 53.

Picking up gold medals were the 4x2 relay members of Sid Magee, Raven kinnetz, Meleah Johnson and Courtney Harle on anchor as they broke the tape in 1:56.48. Taking second place was both the 4x4 and 4x8 entries, with the shuttle hurdle team taking third in their event.

Harle took third individually in the 100 dash and second in the high jump, with Meleah Johnson also grabbing the same spot in the long jump. The team double scored in both jump events for added points.

“It was nice to finally get outside and run on an actual track,” stated head coach Monty Harker. “We are still trying to get in some shape and figure out who can run what. We will have a short time to do it in. Our sprinters seem to be doing well and we just need to get our handoffs down."
