Cowgirl season ends in first round of regionals

The season came to an end for the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows varsity softball team last week in Iowa Falls as the home Cadets won the 3A regional opener by an 8-1 score. The North Central Conference foes were quite familiar with each other, and were playing the decider after splitting the two regular season games with the Cowgirls earlier gaining a huge 10-4 home win over them.

The lone score came in the fifth frame as Megan Askelsen crossed the plate courtesy of a Quinn Hansch base hit. Emma Konvalinka had a pair of base hits, with Emily Kapka also connecting once. Paige Willey drew a walk, while Gabby Hackley advanced to first on a fielders choice.

Sydney Terhark took the loss in the circle in her final game, allowing seven earned runs with two walks and five K’s. The team finishes at 9-12, with Konvalinka, Chloe Johnson and Cierra Milner all joining Terhark in their final softball appearances.
