Cowgirl golfers take fourth at conference tournament

This past Monday at the Lakeside course near Fort Dodge, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf team took fourth place at the North Central Conference tournament. Humboldt was the team champion with a 353 total, followed in order by: Clear Lake 354, St. Edmond 398, C-G-D 404, Algona 418, Hampton-Dumont 433, Webster City 486 and Iowa Falls-Alden 508. Former state placewinner Emily Snelling of Clear Lake won the individual title with a 77, while Meghan Geary made the All-Conference list by taking sixth at 91. She shot rounds of 47 and 44 for the 18-holes. Other Cowgirl scores were: Karlie Sellner 48-54 for 102, Paeten Schultz 49-55 for 104, Taylor Hagie 52-55 for 107, Cassy Mendoza 53-60 for 113 and Emma Konvalinka 60-59 for 119.

“I was extremely pleased with our team,” said head coach Dan Smith. “Every girl shot better than their average with many reaching personal bests on the season."

Last Friday at the Dayton course, the varsity defeated Southeast Valley 235-267. Meghan Geary was medalist with a 54 score, and was followed in counters by Paeten Schultz with 58, Emma Konvalinka with 60 and Taylor Hagie with 63. Rounds were also played by Karlie Sellner (67) and Lauren Odland.
