Cowgirl golfers drop opening meet to Cardinals

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf team teed up the ball to open their season this past Monday, April 6, on a cool and breezy day in Garner, losing to the Cardinals by a varsity score of 192-199. Bailee Frayne of G-H/V was medalist with a 38. Followed by the Cowgirls Mikaela Livengood with a 43.

“It was good to get the season started and to play well as a team,” said coach Dan Smith. “We finished nine strokes better than last year’s first meet. There are always nerves before the first meet, but I thought the girls did a nice job of fighting them off. I have a very experienced team this year, with three juniors and three seniors on varsity. Most of these girls have had two years of varsity golf already.”
