Cowboys win Tiger Invite at Guthrie Center

The Clarion-Goldfield wrestling team continues gathering momentum for the postseason following a team title at the Tiger Invitational last Saturday at Guthrie Center. The Cowboys crowned four champions in compiling 219 points, easily outdistancing NCC foe Humboldt with 180 points. Ogden (156), Greene County (143) and Manson NW Webster (124) completed the final top five in the huge 21-team field.

  Justin Portillo (106), Josh Portillo (113), Taylor Lehman (138) and Caleb Hanson (220) all earned gold medals on the day. Justin defeated Johnson of Prairie Valley by a 17-0 technical fall in the championship match. He scored a win by fall, and another technical fall, to get there. Not to be outdone, Josh took a 16-1 technical fall to win his title. Earlier in the day, he won two other matches by technical fall in a dominating performance.
